1. Zee Media Q3 Operating Income up 18.3% Due to Strong Ad Revenue Growth

Zee Media Corporation’s operating revenue for the quarter ended 31 December 2020 increased by 18.3% to Rs 184.3 crore from Rs 155.9. crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal. As reported by exchange4media, advertising revenue for the quarter was up 20.5% to Rs 1,73.2 crore from Rs 143.7 crore. Subscription revenue remained muted at Rs 96.6 crore compared to Rs 97.4 crore. Other sales and services revenue declined 39.3% to Rs 1.47 crore from Rs 2.43 crore. Marketing, distribution, and business promotion expenses more than doubled to Rs 16.55 crore from Rs 8.09 crore.

2. S4 Capital Joins Amazon’s Climate Pledge Initiative

S4 Capital, IBM and Iceland join Amazon’s Climate Pledge initiative. The green pledge obliges signatories to ‘measure and report greenhouse gas emissions on a regular basis’ to attain net-zero carbon emissions by 2040. As per The Drum, S4Capital is the first ad network to sign up for the initiative – a decision that follows hot on the heels of the launch of a new climate action group by the Ad Association.

3. Star-Disney India Appoints Tirthankar Dutta as VP & CISO

Star-Disney India has appointed Tirthankar Dutta as Vice President & chief information security officer (CISO). Dutta will be responsible for the strategic leadership of the Disney information security program. Prior to this, he was SVP & Head of Information Security with Infoedge India. As per medianews4u, he will be based in Mumbai.

4. News Corp Partners with Google

Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp has struck a global news deal with Alphabet Inc’s Google. According to The Economic Times, the companies will develop a subscription platform, share advertising revenue through Google’s ad technology services, build out audio journalism and develop video journalism by YouTube. The deal comes after years of public feuding between Murdoch and Google, most recently in Australia, where Google threatened to shut down its search engine to avoid “unworkable” content laws.
