1. WPP Reports 9.8% Increase in Revenue
WPP has released its financial results for the first half of 2021 today. The holding company reported revenue increasing 9.8% to £6.1bn, a like-for-like increase of 16.1% on the same period last year. Its operating profit increased 54.4% compared to last year, to £590m. Operating margin rose 3.9% to 12.1%. As reported by The Drum, UK and India were particularly strong performers in the second quarter. Net sales shot up 31.8% in Britain and 30% in India.
2. Kumar Mangalam Birla Steps Down as Vodafone Idea’s Chairman
Kumar Mangalam Birla has stepped down as non-executive chairman of Vodafone Idea (Vi) after offering to give up his stake in the telecom company. Birla will be replaced by Himanshu Kapania, a telecom industry veteran and a nominee of Aditya Birla Group on the board. As reported by livemint, Birla Group Chief Financial Officer Sushil Agarwal has been named additional director on the Vi board.
3. Nykaa Appoints Shilpa Jain as AVP, Consumer & Market Insights
Nykaa has appointed Shilpa Jain as its AVP, consumer & market insights, reports afaqs. She will be responsible for driving consumer & market insights, providing relevant insight-based solutions to address specific branding and marketing issues and will be helping the brand to build relevance among the consumer through specific research solutions. Prior to this, Shilpa has worked with Google as consumer & marketing specialist for around 2 years.
4. Himanshi Tandon Quits Reebok India
Reebok India Head of Digital Marketing Himanshi Tandon has resigned from her position at the sportswear brand. As noted by exchange4media, her eight-year stint at Reebok ended in June. At Reebok, she was responsible for designing brand campaigns led by social and creating a strong influencer marketing strategy for Reebok India.
5. Equinox Films Launches Equinox Virtual
Equinox Films, founded by Ram Madhvani, has announced its foray into the world of gaming and virtual experiences with the launch of Equinox Virtual. As per campaign India, the new platform aims to bring engaging games and entertainment to users in India and worldwide. It will kickstart with mobile gaming and the first game will be a multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) that will launch in India in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and English.
